Behind The Music with Cintron on 'Get Up'

I started creating music because I couldn’t hold in everything since my son passed. He’s the reason why I now have a voice. I feel like this is healing for me, no matter what genre.

I created this song to raise awareness for childhood cancer and to encourage families who have to go through the day to day of uncertainties.

I'm hoping that 'Get Up' will find it's an audience and connect with people who need these words.

When you go through a great loss you begin to understand that we are here to live and not just exist. This song is in memory of my 7-year-old son and how he lived so completely, even if just for a very short time.

This single raises awareness, but most importantly encourages people to get up and not stay in the moment of something that cannot be changed.

How do you deal with loss?

I take it one day at a time. It not as if you ever get over something like this, you just find a way to heal and you try to move forward in their memory. My son was full of life. He was so smart and so vibrant. I miss him every day but he always said he wanted to be like me when he grew up so it's now my job to live up to those huge expectations.

Tell me about your music..

I started creating music because I couldn’t hold in everything since my son passed. He’s the reason why I now have a voice. I feel like this is healing for me, no matter what genre.

This was a start to my storytelling type of style. I’ve had friends show me the way and from there it took off. Shout out to Jose and Jorge for encouraging me to put my emotions into the mic and let it out. We then found Grammy winner Shafik and he helped bring the song to life.

Music has been my passion ever since I was encouraged to write by Jose and Jorge. It’s was funny how it all came about, I told the guys I can write and I never expressed it on the mic. They said let us hear what you have so I wrote. They said you need to that energy and message into a mic to help you get better. The piano spoke to me as I was developing music, it brought life to 'Get up'.

This has brought me on a journey to music which provides me with an outlet to express everything I’ve been through in life. Encouraging, uplifting, and good vibes is what I’m reaching for with my fans.

I’m from Cleveland, where nothing is given and everything has to be earned. I feel everyone has a story to tell, it’s just being able to tell that story in a way that encourages someone else in this same mindset.

The music business...

I feel like the music business is like every other business. You treat it like a business. Being a musician today is a lot easier to get heard you just have to be you and build a fan base and be consistent with it. I stay in touch with people who like the music I’m creating on my newsletter. Signup to get early access to the new songs and some special experiences I’m creating just for my closest friends. https://mailchi.mp/c7baa3afa1d3/cintron
