Music Genre: Singer Songwriter

I live in... Portlaoise, Co Laois, Ireland

My music is...
To be honest my music is a lot about personal experiences and others I knows experiences or other things in life I have recurring thoughts about. Like if I hear about something that’s happened round me.

I would probably write a song about it or a song along those lines. I seemed for a while to be writing about relationships breaking up or getting together or some way involved around relationships. Maybe deep down in my mind I had issues surrounding past relationships or something that I needed to get off my chest who knows. To be honest I couldn’t sit down and say ok I’m going to write a song. If I did my mind would draw a blank.

I have to wait til the song picks me if you get me as funny as it sounds. There was often a night I could be in bed lying there then bang a song would start to form in my mind right before me, so I’d have to hop out of bed a run to the music room and start writing it down. Could take me five mins or half hour. But it would be done. But apart from writing it id have to record on my phone the way the song would be sang because if not I could go to the music room in the morning and not have a clue how it goes. Maybe its madness, maybe not. But what ever it is, I trust it.

This song is very special to me. It’s about a man that is going through a lot of emotions in his life. From losing his lover to depression and also suffers from addiction to alcohol. Personally the chorus speaks so load to me. Because its the truth in all of these things.

The chorus goes "And his heart crys tears no one ever hears" to me I feel this is so powerful. The reason being. How many times do you ever hear of a suicide and think, ‘ God I never new he/she was depressed.’ That’s because a lot of people hide it so that’s where the words ‘And his heart cries tears no one ever hears’ comes from to be honest. People can hide the pain from their face but not their heart you know. Well....... that’s my views on it anyways.

While we are talking about this subject, depression can show up in anyones day. It’s important to recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety can include:

  • nervousness, restlessness, or feeling tense

  • feelings of danger, panic, or dread

  • rapid heart rate

  • rapid breathing

  • increased or heavy sweating

  • trembling or muscle twitching

  • trouble focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about.

Depression can include:

  • Uncontrollable emotions

  • Looking at death

  • No getting help

  • Increased fatigue

  • Increased anxiety

  • Loss of interest in your life

How do you think this release represents your current direction..
Well.... I don’t know if this song represents my current direction. Although personally I really do like this song. But as I move forward id like people to see maybe a bit of diversity in my music. Yes as I said a lot of my first songs are about relationship things. But I have songs about other things that are important to me. I have one song finished about a homeless teen. Now it’s not about anybody I know. But I did create the song from bits of stories I heard about things in that angle. Plus I have a song about mental health to. Which is close to my heart as I suffer from a mental health illness.

What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking?
As I said before, not to write or record something that personally won’t make me happy to write or play. Some people write and record songs they probably dont agree with but once it sells its ok. I know this might sound stupid but I would rather be happy with my song and make nothing than to write some dribble that will sell but personally make me unhappy. Maybe some might not believe that but I’m just been honest. When it comes to writing, if you are doing it for the money more than anything else. I don’t agree and I know they are not happy.

The music business…
Yes the first thing id like to say, its a dog eat dog business and from my own personal experience don’t rely on anyone but yourself. There will always be haters out there no matter how good you are.

I love to create music because its my way of blowing off steam sometimes and theres nothing as nice as when you create a song and when people hear it and leave you really encouraging comments. Makes it all worth while.
