I think the direction is moving toward more focused themes and a musical interpretation of darkness. There are firsthand accounts of paranormal and evil that are woven into a progressive and heavy framework, with a cinematic ambience.
We all have our own challenges to overcome, and music is how we turn that negative into a positive. We are always trying to capture our current emotions and incorporate that into our new material. We have never tried to sound like someone else, or jump on the newest trends, we just write music that feels good in that moment.
Bands that really do it for us are Black Sabbath, Mastodon and Tool. It’s all about mean muggin’ to a really tight riff. We really enjoy music that grooves so we write the exact same way. Castle in the Sky was a premeditated attempt to maintain our groovy nature but focus a bit more on a simple melody and lyrics.
